Parts

1 lid with steam vents · 2 steaming basket · 3 drip tray with flavour screen · 4 steam diffuser · 5 water basin · 6 timer dial · 7 indicator · 8 handle.

Before first use

Unpack the appliance and all the accessories and peel off any labels. Wash the lid, the steaming baskets, the steam diffuser, the flavour screen and the drip tray in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly. Wipe the inside of the water basin with a damp cloth.

How to use

  1. Place the steamer on a stable, level surface, away from anything that could be damaged by steam – walls and overhanging cupboards.
  2. Fill water directly into the water basin. Add only tap water to the water basin – no salt, pepper, seasonings, herbs, wine, stock or any other liquid. Water can be topped up at any time while the appliance is running.
  3. Place the drip tray on the base and make sure it sits flat.
  4. Flavour screen. Put fresh or dried herbs and spices into the screen – thyme, cilantro, basil, dill, curry or tarragon with garlic, caraway or horseradish. Use half to 3 teaspoons of dried herbs, or three times as much fresh herbs, chopped. Rinse or wet the screen before adding the seasoning so that small herbs do not fall through. The drip tray can also be used without herbs.
  5. Put the food into the baskets. Place the largest pieces in the bottom basket – they need a longer cooking time. The baskets can be assembled in several positions.
  6. Put the basket on the base and the lid on top.
  7. Plug the appliance in and set the timer. Steaming begins within 30 seconds. When the time is up the timer gives a beep.
  8. To prevent the food from overcooking, remove the steaming basket immediately – use a mitt and the handle – and place it on a plate or on the reversed lid.
  9. When you have finished, unplug the appliance and let it cool completely before removing the drip tray and storing it.

Important — safety

  • BURN HAZARD. The base, the steaming baskets and the lid get very hot during use – touch only the handles and the buttons. Use a mitt: remove the lid slowly with its inside pointing away from you, let the steam escape gradually and hold the lid over the unit so that the condensation drains back into the steamer.
  • Do not operate the appliance without the steaming basket and the lid in place. Do not reach into the unit while it is steaming – use a long-handled utensil to stir.
  • Take care when removing the drip tray: other parts may already be cool, but the water in the basin and the drip may still be very hot.
  • Always unplug the appliance after use and before cleaning. When disconnecting, grasp the plug and not the cord. Make sure your hands are dry before plugging in or operating it.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water. If the cord and the plug become wet, remove the plug wearing dry rubber gloves; if the unit has been immersed, send it to an authorised service centre or your dealer.
  • Never operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug or if it is not working properly – return it to the service centre.
  • Keep the appliance away from sources of heat (gas, electric burner, heated oven) and inflammable objects. Place it on a solid surface so that it cannot move or fall.
  • It is better not to use an extension cord; if one is used, it must be in good condition, with an earthed connection and a minimum rating of 10 A.
  • Use the appliance only for its intended purpose and only with the accessories supplied; do not use attachments that are not recommended. The product is designed for domestic use only – professional or inappropriate use voids the guarantee.
  • Store the appliance in a safe place out of the reach of children. Persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities and children may use it only under supervision or after instruction; children must not play with the appliance.

The times are a guide and depend on the size of the pieces, their spacing in the basket and the freshness of the food. They apply to food in the bottom basket; food in the upper basket may take slightly longer. All times are based on the use of cold water. Cook meat and poultry thoroughly – pierce with a knife or skewer and check that the juices run clear; sausage must be completely cooked before steaming. Steaming lets the fat drip away, so choose tender, lean cuts.

Cleaning and care

  • Never immerse the base, the cord or the plug in water. Unplug the appliance and let it cool completely before cleaning.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners such as scouring powders, steel wool or bleach. Do not clean the clear plastic bowls and baskets with the abrasive side of a sponge or pad.
  • Wash the lid, the rice container and the baskets in hot water with washing-up liquid. These parts can also be cleaned in a dishwasher, in the upper basket on the light cycle, although continual dishwasher cleaning may result in a slight loss of exterior gloss.
  • Empty the water basin and change the water after each use. Fill the basin with warm soapy water, wipe it with a cloth and rinse thoroughly; wipe the base with a damp cloth. Clean the unit on a regular basis.

Descaling

After 2–3 months of consistent use, chemical deposits build up in the water basin and the heating element. How much depends on the hardness of the water. Regular descaling is essential to maintain steam production and extend the life of the unit.

  1. Fill the water basin to the MAX level with white vinegar (not brown vinegar). Important: do not use any other chemical or commercial descaler.
  2. Plug the appliance in. The drip tray, the steaming basket and the lid should be in place during this procedure.
  3. Set the timer for 25 minutes. If the vinegar begins to boil over the edge of the base, unplug the unit, switch the timer off and reduce the quantity of vinegar slightly.
  4. When the timer rings, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before pouring out the vinegar.
  5. Rinse the water basin several times with cold water.

Compliance and disposal

  • The appliance complies with Directives 2014/35/EU (LVD), 2014/30/EU (EMC) and 2011/65/EU (RoHS) and carries the CE mark, certificate No. 210121166GZU-VOC001. Parts in contact with food are covered by Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 and plastic parts by Regulation (EU) 10/2011; Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety also applies.
  • WEEE (2012/19/EU): do not dispose of the appliance with household waste — take it to an electrical and electronic waste collection point or return it to the seller.
