RETOO U017 Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber — deep cleansing without squeezing

The flat metal blade vibrates 28 000 times a second. Run it across damp skin and those vibrations break the bond between the pore and what is sitting in it — sebum, dead cells, the residue of makeup that cleanser does not reach. The debris lifts to the surface and wipes away. Nothing is squeezed, so nothing is bruised, which is the whole argument for a cavitation peel over fingers or a metal extractor.

One button cycles three functions, marked on the body and shown by an indicator light:

• Cleansing — the classic cavitation peel, blade angled against damp skin, sweeping outwards
• Moisturizing — sonophoresis: the same ultrasound drives serum or essence deeper than it would go on its own
• Lifting — micro-massage that stimulates microcirculation and, over weeks, collagen and elastin

Ultrasound runs either continuously or in pulses. The blade is aluminium on an ABS body, and it charges over USB, so there is no base station to find a home for. Two silicone heads slip over the blade for gentler everyday cleansing.

How to use it properly

The device only works on damp skin — ultrasonic cavitation needs water to carry it, and dragging the blade across dry skin does nothing useful and can irritate. Cleanse first, leave the face wet or mist it, then work outwards in short sweeps.

Contraindications

The manufacturer states the device must not be used with orthodontic appliances (braces), on acutely inflamed skin, by people with cancer, with metal implants in the body, or with blood coagulation disorders. It is not recommended during pregnancy. Do not use on or around the eyes, or on broken or sunburnt skin. Do not use for more than 45 minutes at a time.
