RETOO U024 Pore Vacuum — blackheads out, skin intact

Squeezing a blackhead pushes half of it deeper and bruises the pore wall; that is why picked noses stay red for days. A pore vacuum works the other way round: warm the skin so the pores open, place the head over the pore, and suction draws the plug up and out. The device does the pulling, your fingers stay off your face.

Three suction levels are the part that matters in practice. Level one is for thin skin and first-time use, level three for the sides of the nose where plugs sit deepest. The indicator lights on the body show which level is running.

The five heads

How to use it (from the manufacturer's manual)

1. Charge the device before first use.
2. Cleanse the face and warm the skin to open the pores — a hot towel or a few minutes over steam.
3. Fit the head that suits the area and start on the lowest suction level.
4. Keep the device moving. Never hold it in one spot for more than 3 seconds — this is what causes the round red marks people complain about.
5. Afterwards close the pores with a cold towel or a mask.
6. Finish with moisturiser.

Do not use

RETOO states the device must not be used near the eyeballs, eyelids, ears or neck; after cosmetic, plastic or nose surgery; on injured, scarred or damaged skin; or by people with skin diseases, inflammation, allergies, severe sunburn, eczema or swelling. Do not use with wet hands or a wet face, do not press it hard against the skin, and stop immediately if it hurts. Do not clean it while switched on, do not rinse it directly under water, keep it away from heat and flammable materials while charging, and keep it away from children.
