How to use

• Set the browning level with the dial — the higher the number, the darker the toast. Start from a medium setting and adjust to taste.
• Put the slices in and push the lever down until it locks into place. The lever only locks when the appliance is plugged in.
• Once the selected level is reached, the toaster switches off and lifts the slices automatically. Press Cancel to stop earlier.
• Use Defrost for bread taken straight from the freezer and Reheat to warm up toast that has gone cold.
• Unplug the appliance after use. The lever must be in the up position before plugging in or unplugging.

Important — safety

• Fire hazard: bread can burn. Do not leave the toaster unattended while it is working, do not cover it and do not use it near or beneath curtains, tablecloths or other flammable materials.
• Do not insert oversized pieces of food, foil packaging or any utensils into the slots — this creates a risk of fire and electric shock. Do not put your hand inside the appliance.
• Do not try to remove jammed bread while the appliance is plugged in — unplug it first and let it cool down.
• Do not touch hot surfaces — the accessible surfaces get very hot in use. Use the knobs and the lever only.
• Do not immerse the cord, the plug or the appliance in water or any other liquid.
• Unplug the appliance when it is not in use and before cleaning, and let it cool down first.
• Do not use the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after it has malfunctioned or been damaged in any way — return it to a service centre. A damaged cord may only be replaced by the manufacturer or a service agent.
• Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter or touch hot surfaces. Do not place the toaster on or near a gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
• For household use indoors only. Do not use outdoors and do not operate the appliance with an external timer or a separate remote-control system.
• Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children. It must not be used by children or by persons whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities prevent safe use, without assistance or supervision. Children must not play with the appliance.

Care

• Unplug the toaster and let it cool down completely before cleaning.
• Pull out the crumb tray at the bottom and empty it regularly — accumulated crumbs are a fire hazard.
• Clean the housing with a soft dry cloth only. Water must not be used, and abrasive or corrosive agents are not suitable either.
• The toaster must not be washed, immersed in water or put in a dishwasher.

• The appliance complies with Directives 2014/35/EU (LVD), 2014/30/EU (EMC) and 2011/65/EU (RoHS) and carries the CE mark. Parts in contact with food are covered by Regulation (EC) 1935/2004.
• WEEE (2012/19/EU): do not dispose of the appliance with household waste — take it to an electrical and electronic waste collection point or return it to the seller.
