Irons & Garment Steamers

How to choose an iron or a garment steamer

Steam iron or garment steamer?

A steam iron does the best job on cotton, linen and shirt collars on an ironing board. A handheld garment steamer works on clothes right on the hanger – it quickly refreshes a dress, jacket or curtains and is great for travel. Many people own both.

What to look for in a steam iron

• Power and steam. 2200–3000 W irons heat up fast and deliver more steam: the EMAVO Power Steam (3000 W) gives up to 35 g/min continuous steam and a 42 g/min steam shot; the EMAVO Steam Master (2200 W) 30 and 36 g/min.
• Soleplate. A ceramic soleplate glides easily and spreads heat evenly – most of our irons have one. The Hausberg HB-7825NG has a titanium-coated soleplate and 11 temperature levels.
• Vertical steam – lets you steam hanging clothes or curtains (ORM-3511, ORM-259, EMAVO).
• Safety and care. Anti-drip, auto shut-off (the RETOO OR1085 switches off after 8 minutes unused) and self-cleaning that flushes out limescale.

Handheld garment steamer

The FIT2 FIT801 (1640 W) heats up in 9 seconds and has 3 steam modes, an LED display and a 320 ml tank – our best-selling ironing appliance. The Berdsen BD-312 (2000 W) has 4 fabric modes and up to 37 g/min of steam; the smaller Berdsen BD-311 (1600 W, 230 ml) has a steel plate, so it also irons horizontally.

For travel and without an ironing board

The compact FIT2 Essentials 618 (700 W, 150 ml) heats up in 40 s and steams for up to 15 minutes non-stop. The FIT2 SteamPro with a vacuum function holds the fabric against the plate, so you can iron without an ironing board.

In short: which one is right for you?

• Shirts and bed linen – a 2200–3000 W steam iron with a ceramic soleplate.
• Quickly refreshing clothes on a hanger – the FIT2 FIT801 garment steamer.
• For travel – the FIT2 Essentials 618.

To keep your iron working longer, use the self-cleaning function regularly as described in the manual. You can see most of our irons at the FIT2 store in Vilnius Outlet (Vytauto Pociūno g. 8, 2nd floor) – it's worth checking availability of a specific model in advance.
